Scoliosis Treatment

Stop the “ wait and see” treatment approach. Early detection and treatment, the earlier, the better.

  • We offer a non-invasive intervention that is integrated with world-class scoliosis treatment methods, such as the Schroth based method (BSPTS), Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization in Scoliosis, and others, catering to individuals of all ages with structural and postural variations of spinal disorders.

Our team is fully equipped to provide comprehensive scoliosis management and can assess and guide the client at any stage of their scoliosis journey. Our approach aligns with the SOSORT guidelines and is based on evidence.

Our experienced practitioners are devoted to educating you about potential causes of scoliosis and presenting treatment options. We will collaborate closely with you, your general practitioner, and other allied health professionals to achieve the best outcomes. In cases where we are unable to provide assistance, we will offer a referral to a General Practitioner or an Orthopaedic surgeon.

  • Half of the success achieved can be attributed to the thorough consultation on scoliosis.

Effective treatment of scoliosis necessitates a specialised evaluation and therapy regimen to pinpoint the underlying cause. Our practice is rooted in the BSPTS Schroth-based approach, recognised as one of the most proven methods for treating scoliosis and related spinal disorders worldwide.

This approach includes a customised exercise program designed to rectify scoliotic posture, operating under the premise that such posture contributes to curve advancement.

At A Plus Physio Clinic, we offer:

    • Exploring medical history, and potential risks of developing major scoliosis.

    • The state of 3D full body laser scanning combined with photographs and computer aided design allows the full postural analysis and to design and build an individual exercise program specific to each patient for the best outcomes.

    • Comprehensive assessment and deconstruction of the components of the scoliosis curve to get our clients understand and internalise their existing curve profile.

    • X-Ray Review (measurement of scoliosis angles rotations, and translations,). It is essential that the patient presents at our centre with a current set of EOS FULL SPINE x-rays.

    • Physical measurements, neurological assessment, specific scoliosis assessment for spinal torsion by using a clinometer.

    • Interpretation of proposed treatment, including expected outcome and treatment timeline.

    • Scoliosis specific exercise program with our unique approach, 3D Movement Correction.

We firmly believe that providing a comprehensive 1-hour initial appointment is imperative for us to fully understand you not solely as a person with scoliosis, but as a whole individual.
Following this initial consultation, a scoliosis-specific exercise program will be implemented. This program is individualised for each patient based on the primary idiopathic curvature identified during their Initial Scoliosis Assessment.

During the session, physiotherapy scoliosis-specific exercises will incorporate a 3D Movement Correction technique and protocol to target the curvature from all perspectives. Therefore, it is essential for the exercises to be customised to accommodate the unique condition of the patient's spine.

    Our aim is to:

    • Decrease the progression (worsening) of a scoliotic curve

    • Improve posture

    • Reduce pain

    • Increase functional tolerance

    • Increase quality of life

  • Please ensure to bring the following items to your initial appointment:

    1. Your old x-rays. If you do not have any x-rays or need new ones, we can explore the option of a referral for an EOS full spine X-Ray Scan.

    2. A pair of shorts or tights.

    3. Female patients should wear a bikini top, bra, or sports top that provides adequate coverage for a full view of the spine (not a t-back).

    4. A referral from an orthopaedic surgeon or GP (optional)
